It’s perhaps a long-winded URL for those of you who know me as Nate; you may prefer to bookmark natebeversluis.com. Anyway, welcome to my new website!
Without entertaining any wild fantasies of myself as a journalist, I was seeking an elegant way to include on the site a portfolio of past projects, as well space for news on current and future ones. The web design team suggested the present Blog format. In private, I most solemnly questioned whether my career generates enough that is newsworthy (just yet) to keep such a thing alive. On the other hand, noting the events that inexplicably seem to break through to national headlines these days, why not my minimalistic improvisational chamber music? Or tales of my latest foray into the Orlando jazz scene? Or some speculative thoughts on buried codes in the overtone series? If you find yourself riveted or even mildly amused, I invite you to check back; I usually can find something in this black bag (blog?) for everyone.
For those of you thinking, “Why isn’t there anything here about [insert memorable musical event] ? “, I’ll be posting more entries on past projects in the coming weeks. However, in tribute to my mentor and friend Dick Dennis who passed away three years ago this winter, I debuted the Blog with a section on him and the Dick Dennis Legacy Concert.
I’d like to credit and thank my web design company of choice, NetMusician.org, based in Bloomington, IN. NetMusician.org specializes in web design for musicians and artists. Graphic design is by John Holden, a freelance Massachusetts-based designer. Photography is by Bill Olivari, Creative Director with Wyndham Vacation Ownership in Orlando, FL. Thanks also to all who have “beta-tested” this site and provided input during development over the last several months.
